John Frieda, Renowned Hairstylist and Creator of Frizz Ease, Dies at 75

OPA WIRE, Nov 5 (OPA) — John Frieda, born in Kenton, built an illustrious 50-year career that established him as one of the most influential names in British beauty, most notably creating the popular Frizz Ease product range and expanding his operations to Manhattan. His sudden passing was confirmed following decades of commercial success and high-profile styling work that included royal commissions.

He was previously married to singer Lulu, with whom he shared his eldest son, Jordan Frieda, born in 1977. Following his divorce from Lulu, Frieda married British architect Frances Avery Howe, the widow of Fiat heir Giovanni Alberto Agnelli. Together, they had two children, Jackson and Leyla, while Frieda also raised his stepdaughter Asia Agnelli.

Jordan Frieda, 48, attended Eton and Cambridge before pursuing a brief acting career, which included portraying Prince William in a 2002 television film, prior to transitioning into the restaurant industry. Stepdaughter Asia Agnelli, founder of the Azzi Agnelli Foundation and investment platform Lifecycles, publicly honored her stepfather following the announcement of his death.

Frieda's legacy endures through his profound commercial impact on modern hair care, his international salon footprint, and his surviving family members. Funeral arrangements and memorial details have not yet been publicly disclosed by his relatives.
