Harry Kane signs contract extension with Bayern Munich until 2029

OPA WIRE, Nov 5 (OPA) — England captain Harry Kane has committed his future to Bayern Munich by signing a contract extension that runs until 2029. German reports indicate the new deal elevates his weekly salary to £400,000, establishing the striker as the highest-paid player in European football.

"I feel right at home at FC Bayern. I love the club, the fans and the city of Munich," Kane said after signing the extension. "We have a fantastic team and, in Vincent Kompany, a fantastic manager. It makes me very proud to be part of this club."

Kane joined Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023 for £86 million and has since scored 156 goals in 161 appearances for the German club. His performance last season included 73 goals across club and country competitions, earning him the Ballon d'Or at a ceremony in London last week ahead of Kylian Mbappe and Lamine Yamal.

The contract extension effectively ends speculation regarding a potential return to the Premier League to chase Alan Shearer's all-time scoring record. Kane is also set to become England's record appearance holder later this month during Nations League fixtures against Croatia and Spain, currently sharing the record of 125 caps with Peter Shilton.
