OPA WIRE, Nov 5 (OPA) — Startup RadianX has secured $9 million in funding to build a commercial-volume production line for a new class of perovskite-based solar materials designed to harvest light indoors. The financing includes a $5 million seed round led by SOSV and Twynam, alongside a $4 million non-dilutive investment from Pacific Union Technology Precision Manufacturing to construct a dedicated production facility.

Additional participants in the seed round included One Small Planet, Sachsen Ventures, Avila VC, California Innovation Fund, quantumEDGE, Riceberg Ventures, and Alumni Ventures. The company's 1.2-meter by 0.6-meter perovskite panel achieves a record 22.33% light-harvesting efficiency, outperforming traditional silicon-based alternatives in indoor environments where power density is critical.

Perovskites have historically struggled with market adoption due to higher production costs and lower durability compared to conventional silicon panels. However, RadianX maintains that targeting indoor devices significantly reduces wear-and-tear while meeting strict industry durability standards for electronics that require uninterrupted power.

Rather than supplying bare components, RadianX plans to deliver fully packaged power systems directly to device manufacturers, complete with custom power electronics designed specifically for perovskite light-soaking characteristics. The company envisions applications ranging from e-readers and internet-of-things sensors to factory automation and robotics.
