OPA WIRE, Nov 4 (OPA) — Seven leading technology companies in France signed a strategic agreement on Wednesday in Paris during the Euronaval trade fair to establish the SIPRIS initiative. The project is designed to tackle vulnerabilities in international security by providing continuous surveillance and protection for critical underwater cables and infrastructure.

Indra will coordinate the industrial ecosystem and oversee the overall system integration using its SEADEF architecture and the sovereign artificial intelligence platform IndraMind, supplemented by unmanned aerial drones. Ana Belén Buendía, the company's naval director, stated that the initiative addresses a pressing need to monitor the underwater environment and achieve European technological sovereignty.

The alliance integrates a multidisciplinary technological network across multiple firms. SAES will supply sensors and sonar processing for threat detection, while UTEK and Iqua Robotics will handle autonomous control through unmanned surface vehicles and unmanned submarines, respectively.

Aragon Photonics will manage anomaly detection through fiber optics, backed by FYLA's underwater optical communications and Sateliot's satellite coverage. The project will immediately transition to field testing ahead of its commercial market launch.
